    How to Keep the Body in Shape when Fasting

    How to During the holy month of Ramadan , Muslims will observe daily fast from dawn to sunset. Traditionally, Muslims break their fast at sunset and then eat again with a dawn meal called sahur.

    There is evidence to suggest that fasting can have a positive impact on health . During Ramadan, some people may not do physical activity, and as a result, they may gain weight during that month. In addition, eating too much iftar or sahur can lead to weight gain. However, by following the correct nutritional intake, Muslims may be able to lose weight, blood pressure and cholesterol. 

    How to keep your body in shape when breaking your fast

    Quoted from the WHO website , eating three dates to break the fast is a traditional and healthy way to start breaking the fast. Dates are an excellent source of fiber. In addition, eating lots of vegetables is also important to provide essential vitamins and nutrients. Choose foods from whole grains that provide the body with energy and fiber.

    Then, enjoy grilled or grilled lean meats, skinless chicken and fish, for a healthy portion of protein. In general, avoid fried and processed foods that are high in fat or sugar. Eat slowly and avoid overeating when breaking your fast. Then, try to stay physically active in the afternoon. For example, by walking regularly. 

    The importance of eating sahur

    Sahur is breakfast before dawn to start daily fasting. Eating sahur is recommended for consumption especially for special groups such as the elderly, adolescents, pregnant and nursing mothers, as well as children who choose to fast. A meal for a meal should include vegetables, a serving of carbohydrates, protein-rich foods such as dairy products and / or eggs, and fruits. 

    Drink lots of water to stay hydrated 

    WHO also recommends drinking plenty of water at least 10 glasses a day and eating hydrating foods during Ramadan. Try adding watermelon to the meal or eating it as a sweet snack after breaking the fast. Green salads that contain lots of cucumbers and tomatoes can also be consumed as a hydrating food. Avoid caffeinated drinks such as coffee, tea, and colas, as caffeine can make some people urinate more frequently, which can lead to dehydration. 

    Also keep in mind that soft drinks with sugar will add calories to your diet. On average, people fast between 15 and 16 hours a day. During the day, when temperatures are high, it is important to stay in a cool, shady place and avoid the sun.
