Electric Water Heater – Main Article
A small portable electric water heater is what most people think of when they think about home heating. Water heating utilizes an electrical energy source in order to heat water just above its original temperature. Typical domestic uses of warm water are bathing, cooking, washing, and room heating.

Generally speaking, the smaller, more compact size of an electric water heater is more convenient than a large one. If space is at a premium, then an electric water heater is probably going to be your only option. There are a few things you will want to keep in mind when it comes time to purchase your new heater. First, the size of your heater will be directly related to the size of your bank account. Secondly, there is an inherent risk involved with using an electric water heater because of the inherent potential for electrical shock. The last thing you want is to purchase a water heater and discover that it does not work properly.
Before purchasing an electric water heater, you will want to ensure that your electric unit comes with an automatic or manual pressure relief valve. This feature allows you to set the pressure of your water supply so that it will automatically shut off if the temperature reaches a certain point. It is important that you buy a unit that has at least a 3-pronged valve if it is equipped with a pressure relief valve. This will ensure that your water is shut off if it reaches a certain temperature.
Electric water heaters come in a variety of different types and sizes. The most common type is a single-stage heater which operates at a lower setting on each stage. The single stage model runs at a lower setting until the water temperature reaches a pre-set level, such as a temperature of just forty degrees Fahrenheit. Once the pre-set temperature is reached, the heater will automatically switch to the higher setting, which is used when the water temperature reaches a higher level.
Some Electric Water Heaters have been designed to be very efficient. Some models are built with a built-in dip tube that warms the water up through the use of natural gas. The dipped tube is located inside the heater tank itself. Once the temperature reaches a pre-set level, the heating elements transfer the heated energy to the dip tube. In this way, much of the energy used by the heater is converted directly into heat, which makes the water much hotter.
Electric water heaters that utilize solar thermal power are more efficient than the other models available. A solar thermal heater uses the sun’s energy, which is collected and transferred into a storage tank. When the sun goes down, the storage tank stores the energy, which can then be used during the day. Electric heaters that are designed to be directly connected to the main article are not equipped with a storage tank.
