Medan Area University Slaughter of 30 Sacrificial Animals

The Medan Area University (UMA) academic community slaughtered 15 cattle and 15 goats after Eid al-Adha Prayer 1441 Hijriah, Friday (31/07/2020) at the At-Taqwa Mosque I UMA Campus  Kolam street Medan Estate.

This activity was supported by the Head of the Haji Education Foundation Agus Salim (YPHAS) Drs M Erwin Siregar MBA and the Chancellor of UMA Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan MEng MSc and his staff.

Chairman of the BKM Masjid At Taqwa UMA Campus Dr Hasrat Efendi Samosir MA told the media after the Id prayer that he appeared as the preacher, Dr. Hasanuddin MAg and the imam, Al Hafiz M Nazri.

Regarding the sacrificial animals that were slaughtered, they came from the UMA extended family and the YPHAS. The implementation of the Id prayer and slaughter of sacrificial animals according to health protocols, by providing masks and hand sanitizers.

“750 packages of Qurbani meat were distributed to the victims, the internal UMA family and the community around the campus,” said Hasrat, adding that the sacrifice had benefits and lessons. Among other things, as a form of obedience to Allah SWT’s orders, then as an attitude to imitate the sacrifice of the family of Prophet Ibrahim AS.

Also, as proof of love for Allah above all else, and as a form of social piety to share with others, especially to the duafa who feel the impact of the coronavirus pandemic or Covid-19. “And the sacrifice is also a sign of gratitude to Allah for the abundance of sustenance that He has given,” said the UMA lecturer.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of UMA Prof. Dadan Ramdan gave his appreciation to BKM Masjid At-Taqwa and the sacrificial committee for adhering to health protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially distributing masks to congregants who were about to perform Eid prayers, must wash their hands (hand sanitizer) and keep their distance. (social distancing).

“This year’s Eid prayer is different from last year because in the Covid-19 pandemic this has become a lesson for UMA. With the motto of kinship, the UMA extended family realizes that those who have more sustenance will share with the less fortunate people in sacrificing, “he said.

Furthermore, UMA has immortality in the form of akhlakul karimah given in the form of sacrificial worship with great affection. Therefore, the committee helps each other in distributing the sacrifices which are the motto of this personality.

“This momentum is used to keep the UMA campus from being affected by a pandemic caused by a contagious and dangerous virus and we hope this campus is safe from Corona,” he pleaded.

Meanwhile, the preacher, Dr. Hasanuddin MAg, in his sermon said that the pilgrimage that is carried out has a direct relationship with the Creator of Allah Swt, while the sacrifice is related to humans and the Creator. “One of the sacrificial services is to increase devotion to Allah SWT,” he said. Hasanuddin hopes that the spirit of sacrifice will continue to be improved, especially during the Covid-19 epidemic, the community experienced financial difficulties, many employees were laid off (layoffs), reduced purchasing power and traders suffered losses and worries about Corona transmission.
