The Chancellor of UMA Becomes a Webinar Speaker on the Role of Lecturers and Students to Create a Quality SPMI
Accreditation of Study Programs (Prodi) and Higher Education (PT) is determined by the SPMI (Internal Quality Assurance System). SPMI aims to maintain and improve the quality of higher education in a sustainable manner, which is carried out internally to realize the vision and mission of PT.
Also, SPMI aims to meet the needs of stakeholders through the implementation of the Tridharma of PT. This was conveyed by Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan MEng MSc in the STIE Mahkota Tricom Unggul (MTU) Online Public Lecture, which was also attended by the Chairperson of the MTU Usli Sasri Foundation, the Secretary of the Fuad Halimoen Foundation, the Chairperson of STIE MTU Prof. Zulkarnain Lubis as well as the lecturers, civitas, and students of STIE MTU, Tuesday (1/9/2020).
According to the Chancellor of UMA, a quality higher education institution must be held by the university standards which consist of the National Higher Education Standards; and Higher Education Standards set by Higher Education.
Because it is necessary to ensure the quality of higher education in Higher Education Universities through the process of determining, fulfilling, evaluating, controlling, and developing quality standards for higher education management consistently and continuously, so that stakeholders (students, parents, the world of work, government, lecturers, support staff and parties others concerned) obtain satisfaction.
In the Online Public Lecture, The Chancellor Prof. Dadan hopes that the realization of SPMI at STIE MTU requires commitment from the foundation, leadership, lecturers, community, and students according to the standards set by SPMI.
Previously, the Head of the MTU Foundation Usli Sasri realized that the education system had changed. “The previous era system, many students were more passive listening in lectures. However, the current system has changed, because students are more interactive and innovative, “said Vice President of Mahkota Group.
Nowadays the qualification paradigm gives students the freedom to take knowledge from several practitioners. “The involvement of practitioners in recovery is very important to be able to share information and experiences with students,” he said.
He hopes that STIE MTU students can absorb the knowledge and experiences of practitioners in campus public lectures. “There is a lot of knowledge that practitioners can share for students to absorb,” he hoped.
The Chairperson of STIE MTU, Prof. Zulkarnaen Lubis, admitted that the signing of a collaboration with Medan Area University (UMA) and STIE MTU in terms of improving the quality of education, some time ago.
“This cooperation will encourage STIE MTU to achieve the quality standards of higher education that have been set,” he explained. Please note, that this public lecture is a routine activity that is carried out by STIE MTU every month.
However, due to the COVID outbreak, public lectures were conducted online. This public lecture program also presents resource persons who are experts in their fields, who encourage changes in the STIE MTU education curriculum towards internationalization and technopreneurship.
