New Normal Application in Higher Education in the COVID Pandemic Period 19 According to the Chancellor of UMA

New Normal is a term in business and economics that refers to financial conditions after the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The Chancellor of Medan Area University together with the Head of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDikti) Region 1 of North Sumatra held an Interactive Dialogue with the theme of the Rules for Implementing New Normal Learning in Higher Education on Thursday, June 4, 2020, using the Zoom application.

Based on information circulating in the mass media and social media, that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the government will enact the “new normal” idea as a new chapter in responding to the Covid-19 outbreak. Of course, the most important reason is how to respond to the education of higher education that is actively learning on campus again, after the theme brought by the Rules of Application of New Normal Learning in Higher Education will be completely peeled by qualified speakers. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng, M.Sc Chancellor of Medan Area University and H. Dr. M. Isa Indrawan, SE., MM Rector of the Panca Budi Development University and this time the moderator in this Interactive Dialogue was Prof. Dian Armanto, M.Pd., M.A., M.Sc., Ph.D. as Head of North Sumatra Region 1 Higher Education Service Institute.

Furthermore, the presentation of the first speaker was read by Dr. M. Isa Indrawan, SE., MM Rector of Panca Budi Development University discusses data on the development of Covid-19 in the North Sumatra region, both positive, healed and deceased.

Furthermore, read by the Rector of the University of Medan Area in his presentation said that the positive value obtained during the COvid 19 pandemic namely awareness of ICT users increased both Lecturers and Students, public lecture activities increased through webinars, the application of paperless increased, etc. which was explained by the Rector of the University of Medan Area.
According to the Chancellor of the University of Medan Area, New Normal understanding in Higher Education or Private Higher Education is the Policy to re-implement normal academic and non-academic activities by adding health and hygiene standards that did not exist before, efforts to guarantee academic and non-academic services to students directly or online with caution and vigilance, efforts to ensure that the campus can continue to function according to its vision and mission.

The University of Medan Area currently has implemented health by putting a handwashing area in the place of registration of new students, the availability of hand sanitizers in every building and unit, always wearing masks on duty during a pandemic, checking the temperature of heat at each entrance gate, continuing to improve services online and offline, working seats are made to avoid COVID 19 and the placement of hand sanitizers in the fingerprint location so before and a fingerprint is required to use a hand sanitizer.
