UMA Ready to Face New Normal

Although the Covid-19 Pandemic in Indonesia is still improving and seeing the world of education that has long been stopped, the government finally echoes the new normal scenario discourse.
Responding to the scenario, the Medan Area University established a New Normal Health Protocol which must be obeyed by all campus residents while in the UMA Campus environment, namely:
- Everyone is required to check the body temperature by the security guard at the entrance gate, before entering the UMA Campus environment.
- Everyone must use the mask properly according to health rules.
- Everyone must wash their hands in the space provided or use a hand sanitizer before entering the room.
- Everyone is required to keep a distance (physical distancing) while in the campus environment.
- Avoiding crowds (more than five people) while in the campus environment.
- Everyone is not allowed to attend on-campus and is allowed to rest at home if you experience Covid-19 symptoms.
- Everyone must take an active role in maintaining hygiene and health while in the UMA Campus environment.
Medan Area University has prepared Infrastructure for the application of the New Normal Health Protocol, in the form of:
- Providing handwashing facilities in all campus buildings.
- Providing hand sanitizer facilities at every room entrance throughout the campus building.
- Spray disinfectants in all rooms in each building, before and after use.
- Installing appeals billboards placed in strategic locations, containing: 1) maintaining cleanliness, 2) the obligation to use masks, 3) applying social distancing, 4) diligently washing hands in the provided places, 5) wearing gloves, specifically for participants practicum, 6) throwing trash in its place, and 7) maintaining campus order.
- Provide special masks for guests.
- Installing Warning Board “AREA MUST USE A MASK AND WASHER” in a strategic location in the UMA.
- Impose sanctions for those who violate health protocols.
Besides, the Medan Area University has issued rules and regulations that guarantee the implementation of the New Normal Health Protocol in the UMA Campus Environment, in the form of Issuance of the Chancellor’s Decree for COVID Task Force at the University and Faculty level.
a. Issued the chancellor’s decision letter for the COVID Supervision Task Force at the University and Faculty level.
b. Setting a new security standard.
c. Setting new health standards for lecturers and staff.
d. Set new information and communication system standards.
e. Establish new monitoring and evaluation standards.
f. Set new schedule and workday standards for employees and administrative staff.
g. Carry out socialization of all policies and implementation of new standards through online presentations in an ongoing, directed, comprehensive, and measurable manner to all academics and campus residents.
h. Publish the Health Protocol for implementation:
- Administrative Services.
- Office Activities.
- Class Activity
- Guest Services.
i. Implement a blended learning lecture system starting in the Odd Semester TA. 2020/2021.
j. Publish online education and service applications, to reduce campus gathering activities.
k. Publish application services and administrative processes online to improve the application of paperless.
l. Publish applications for tuition payment systems and other fees to reduce the frequency of student attendance on campus.
The UMA campus always strives to continue implementing health protocols to support government programs and ensure educational activities and services for all stakeholders remain optimal.
